Dai pai dongs are outdoor food stalls in Hong Kong. Hot pot is a great way to eat super warm food on a cold winter’s day. What happens when you combine the two? You get an all you can eat hot pot at a dai pai dong in Shatin Wai. About a 20 minute train ride away from CUHK, this dai pai dong featured a wide variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles for you to cook in your own pot of boiling soup.
Since it was all you can eat, we all grabbed as much meat and seafood we could fit on our plates to cook. After about five or six rounds to the buffet area, we were thoroughly stuffed and were all warm from the food in our bellies.
On a cold and rainy Seattle day, hot pot sounds perfect just about now.
